A renowned Brazilian IP lawyer, for eight years Rafael Lacaz
Amaral worked at Momsen, Leonardos & Cia (established in
1919) before becoming a partner at Kasznar Leonardos
Intellectual Property in May 2012. He coordinates the litigation
team of the Rio de Janeiro office and acts in IP litigation before
the courts. He also provides consulting services on licensing
agreements, patents, trademarks, copyrights and unfair
competition, trademark prosecution and arbitration and
mediation in intellectual property.
Mr Lacaz Amaral chairs the Non-traditional Trademarks
Latin America and Caribbean Sub-committee of the International
Trademark Association. In Brazil, he is a member of the board
and chair of the Enforcement Committee of the Brazilian
Association of Intellectual Property.
Mr Lacaz Amaral also teaches IP law at the Pontifical
Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, the School of Magistracy
of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Getulio Vargas Foundation
and the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents.
In 2012 Mr Lacaz Amaral once again made the final rankings
in the third edition of the
World Trademark Review 1000
was recommended by
Best Lawyers
as one of the best IP
litigators in Brazil.
