Curt Moffatt represents clients before state and federal
regulatory commissions, courts and legislative bodies
developing the nation’s energy policies. His early career
included serving as an assistant to the president of Duke
University; an intern with the National Association of Attorneys
General; a political aide to then-candidate Jimmy Carter; and
an attorney/adviser to the chairman of the Federal Power
Commission and the chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory
Mr Moffatt offers clients exceptional strategic advice and
effective solutions through creative ideas and a thorough
understanding of energy project development, economic
regulation and corporate restructuring. His clients include
several integrated Fortune 500 energy companies. In recent
years, he has advised clients regarding the construction of over
$15 billion of new natural gas transmission infrastructure.
His leadership roles include serving as a director to Leaf
Clean Energy, as a participant with the Aspen Institute’s energy
and environment programmes and as a member of the Board
of Visitors of the Nicholas School for the Environment at Duke
An early trustee to the Charitable Foundation of the Energy
Bar Association, Mr Moffatt’s current philanthropic activities
include serving as the chair of the board of the Sandy Springs
Friends School and as chair of the DC Leadership Council for
the Caron Foundation.
Mr Moffatt received a BA from Duke University and a JD
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
