Garrigues is the leading legal services firm in
the Iberian peninsula, with one of the longest-
standing traditions in the industry, as well as
being the largest law firm in Continental Europe
by both revenue and number of professionals.
With over 1,700 lawyers and the largest
network of offices in Spain and Portugal, it also
has a growing network of offices and affiliates
across Europe, Latin America, the United
States and Asia. Garrigues offers additional
coverage in Latin America through the Affinitas
alliance, with a presence in Argentina, Chile,
Colombia, Mexico and Peru, and is a founding
member of the tax alliance International
Taxand, which operates in almost 50 countries.
Its Spanish and international offices have
placed Garrigues in an ideal position to offer
clients efficient and quick services covering
both Spanish and international law in all kinds
of transactions. Clients receive fully integrated
and coordinated advice across all areas of legal
and tax issues, regardless of their location.
Bringing this together in a single law firm with
such a broad range of professionals and
experts meets companies’ demands for
integral services. The ability to provide advisory
services in different areas entails greater
efficiency, and consequently savings in terms
of time, effort and fees. Garrigues also works
with the best lawyers, auditors, accountants,
banks, financial institutions and professional
consultants from other firms in every area of
business in Spain and around the world.
Garrigues was the first independent law firm
in Europe to surpass the
350 million mark
in revenue. It provides integrated legal and tax
services to 31 of the largest listed companies
in the Ibex-35 Index, as well as to 60% of the
companies listed on the Spanish Stock
Exchange Continuous Market.
The first and only Spanish law firm to
publish an annual GRI-rated CSR report (A+),
Garrigues has now published six editions of
the report and is in the process of preparing
the seventh. As clients are the firm’s most
valued asset, Garrigues conducts an annual
satisfaction survey to determine the firm’s
strengths and weaknesses. There is always
room to improve, but the firm was pleased
to receive 8.37 points out of 10 in fiscal year
2011. The most important feedback obtained
from the survey was that clients rate highly
the trust that the firm inspires (linked to its
commitment, integrity and reputation), as
well as the personalised service and good
communications for which it is known. Other
highly rated features were the technical quality
of the firm’s services, the clarity and usefulness
of its advice, and its expedient and rapid
response times. For this reason, Garrigues is
particularly proud to have received the Client
Choice Award for Spain in 2013 for excellence
in client service; its ability to offer added value
makes it stand out from the rest of the industry.
This is accentuated by the recognition of the
individual work of three of Garrigues’
professionals:
managing partner Fernando Vives, winner
in the General Corporate category in Spain;
partner Luis Ortiz, winner of the
Competition category in Spain; and
partner Ignacio Corchuelo, winner of the
Employment category in Spain.
