t is a pleasure to welcome you to the eighth edition of this special publication
focused on client service. The guide is based on detailed research conducted
for the Client Choice awards by the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology.
The winners of the awards were announced in February 2013.
The Client Choice awards were launched in 2005 to identify those law firms
and individual partners globally that stand apart for the excellent client care they
provide. The research process focuses on the ability of partners and firms to
add real value to their clients’ businesses. The shortlist was generated from an
independent subscriber survey of corporate counsel only, which received more
than 2,000 responses, as well as additional research and detailed interviews
conducted by our in-house team. The individuals and firms were assessed
on a range of criteria: quality of legal advice; value for money; commercial
awareness; effective communication; billing transparency; tailored fee
structures; depth of team; response time; sharing of expertise; and use of
technology. This year, awards were presented to a total of 355 individuals
and 50 firms.
